Review of Victor Frankenstein (2015) by Mark S — 21 Feb 2016
Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy star in Victor Frankenstein, an exciting new adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic work that explores the relationship between Dr. Frankenstein and his assistant Igor.
After being rescued from a carnival and cured of his hunch by Victor, Igor goes to work for him and becomes fascinated by his quest to re-animate life; but Victor is plagued by demons from his past that threaten to destroy their work.
It's an interesting take on Frankenstein lore that mixes different elements to create a unique vision. And, the visual aesthetic does a good job at giving the film a surrealistic tone. There are some weaknesses in the storytelling, but overall Victor Frankenstein is a thrilling re-imagining of a familiar tale.
