Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Jason J — 11 Jun 2010
Enjoyable Woody Allen comedy centering on a love triangle between two best friends and a dark brooding Spanish painter they meet whilst in Barcelona. Things get complicated further by the arrival of the Spanish painter's ex-wife on the scene.
A very good storyline about love and relationships with Penelope Cruz standing out as the crazy hot tempered ex-wife Maria Elena which won her an Oscar. The only thing that annoyed me was the narration throughout the movie - unnecessary I thought. Beautiful cinematography showcasing the delights of Barcelona. The acting was fantastic. It's also proof that even in his 70's Woody Allen can still pull it off and create a witty and passionate movie.
