Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Howie V — 27 Jan 2011
Penelope Cruz is an absolute juggernaut. Acts I and II are a bit touristy until "Maria Elena" comes on the scene. She runs pretty circles around "Cristina" and "Vicky" but that's the point of the character, right? She's the wild card. Is it a cry for attention or a cry for help? Why can't they both be true? As any Quantum Theorists will tell you anything is possible and in Vicky Cristina Barcelona just about everything happens. And what happens in Spain....
Here we have a classic Jeffersonian struggle between the Heart and the Head. It's entertaining to watch people act impulsively. Intelligent people making poor decisions. The timing was perfect. Just as Fluffie and I were saying "Wrap it up" boom it was over. The credits were rolling. Get off and get out. Leave on a high. Well played. Love the Spanish guitar. I think they through in some Juan Serrano (great musician). Ah, the life of the artist. Two thumbs up!
