Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Stuart R — 04 Jul 2011
All the characters have Woody's annoying banterisms and mannerisms even though not one silver frame featured Woody's himself (thank god!). I don't usually like Woody films but this one was actually well written and well acted especially by Penelope, Scarlett and Javier.
While I look at Javier, its very easy to envision him as the "Latin Lover" but hard to shake off that bowl haircut! The theme of "Take the road less travelled" in matters of love, sex, and relationships was interestingly explored, from a male point of view, of course, less the raunchy gratutious 3some scenes thanks to Woody hailing from a more genteel generation most likely, but posed a very effective statement about the consequences of not following your desires.
