Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Kimberley F — 11 Aug 2011
A hard to identify comedy about two American girls, Rebecca Hall and Scarlet Johansson, who engage in various types of relationships whilst in Barcelona. Characterised by a heavy voice over to get the film moving along swiftly the film explores issues of love, living and loss.
It's not the best movie out there, and it's not especially loud out loud funny, but it's cute and inoffensive. In fact it might just be worth the watch due to Penelope Cruz's stella performance.
The only other movie by Woody Allen I've seen is Annie Hall, and this is of a standard, but just no where near as good.
