Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Buggy B — 09 Jan 2014
4/5 --- Yeah! I have finally seen this film, after 5 long years since it debuted...Worth it, hard to believe it is an Woody Allen film though. Ok yeah dialogue was profuse but this time around, it worked! I was not annoyed by all the yakking (aka "Blue Jasmine")...and one of his funniest films I've seen and liked since "Small Time Crooks.".
Great cast, beautiful people: Bardiem, Cruz, Hall and Johansson. The movie has wonderful music to take you into the whole Barcelona world, which is equally but also more beautiful and rustic and homely. I love art so the whole disastrous psychotic aspect of it and relationships/love makes sense.
Very well done movie, yeah there is/are threesomes :) I can understand that sometimes love knows no bounds, but then also that love is jealous. In the end, I would say love is blind and then walks smack into a wall or down a cliff, hahah!!Recommended!
Plus that whole short convo about why Cristina learns the Chinese language instead of any other is hilarious!!! :D.
