Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Valerie P — 09 Apr 2011
A more apt title for the film would have been Vicky and Cristina in Barcelona, which makes a bit more sense. Two best friends spend the summer in Barcelona - one engaged to be married, the other carefree and single.
A free-spirited man enters their lives and things are put off-kilter. Familiar questions about love, life, and commitment surface in this Woody Allen film, but in my opinion it wasn't one of his better endeavors.
As always, I love the free-flow conversation that lets you know you're watching an Allen film, but the wit was lacking a little. Not a disaster, but definitely not a masterpiece.
