Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Domino V — 26 Jul 2012
A witty and well-acted comedy for adults. The main quality of this piece comes from some magnificent views of sunny Barcelona and the beautiful Spanish countryside, insight into the country's culture, and the omnipresent, relaxing mood.
The story shows a rather unexpected threesome, build up of three totally unlike characters, and that's where all the laughs kick in. Javier Bardem is perfect as the seductive ladies-man, Scarlet Johansson as the naive American girl, who tries to find love in Spain's erotic self, and Penelope Cruz shines as the troubled and overreactive woman, who makes the love triangle difficult to survive.
Even though some would claim that it's really a chick flick, Vicky Cristina Barcelona brings fine entertainment for everyone.
