Review of Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Steve R — 02 Feb 2014
How the mighty have fallen! The once great Woody Allen has resorted to this mediocrity. Everything is shot very nicely, and the acting is credible, but the story revolves around an aimless quartet of self-indulgent morally vacuous "artists" who need to dump their pretensions and grow some backbone.
When he was exploring similar subjects in the 1970s, Allen's angsty blend of comedy and drama was refreshing. By now he should have matured beyond adolescent musings.
