Review of Vice (2018) by Bill M — 26 Dec 2018
A fun, pseudo-intellectual movie with lots of creativity and talent but shallow, dishonest and dangerous. I am no fan of President Bush, the Patriot Act, the Iraq War or Dick Cheney, as all that know me can attest, but dumbing down America with cardboard characters and dishonest history is predictable and dangerous to our national health as well as international security. I am sure there are millions of young, uneducated movie goers that drink McKay's Kool-Aid that they are young hipsters that know all about politics and history via a slick sardonic bells and whistles film, but the rest of us (including liberals) are not so hypnotized.
Are we really to believe that President Bush, Jr was a naive idiot that had nothing to do with any of his policies, or that Obama's administration didn't also give rise to ISIS, or that Fox News, the only conservative news channel in a sea of leftists media, is the root of all evil and "fake news." No mention that Clapper illegally wiretapped citizens and lied to Congress or that Brennan was the head of the CIA torture program, or that terrorists do really really bad things to millions of innocent people.
McKay, like so many with too much money, power, and talent, think the rest of America is stupid and uneducated. Hopefully, we will graduate out of this "stupid" period and have real discussions instead of constantly being spoon-fed propaganda by the 1% political and media class.
