Review of Very Bad Things (1998) by Andrew D — 24 Jun 2011
What could've been an intense crime thriller fails as a dark comedy. It's very dark and there are a handful of laughs but most of the comedy feels forced and is unfunny. The acting is good - the writing and directing is to blame.
The thriller aspects, while generic, are well made, but the abrupt switch in tone (usually by adding salsa music) takes the viewer out of it. And constant yelling isn't funny, it's irritating.
