Review of Vertigo (1958) by Jared S — 12 Dec 2013
Well, years after first seeing it in high school I have come to like Vertigo, a film that is regarded as one of if not Alfred Hitchcock's best films (and one of the greatest films of all time).
While I don't hold it that high, it resonates with me on levels that most films don't. The character study of Scottie (and the amazing performance by Jimmy Stewart) is kind of frightening to be honest. The plot and story is interesting enough, but the themes the film is touching on about obsession, past regrets, idealism and several more ideas, are all what drive this vehicle. Vertigo is uncanny, haunting and even creepy.
The score is also fantastic and like everything other aspect of this film, it only gets better as the picture moves forward.
