Review of Vertigo (1958) by David A — 02 Nov 2014

This movie combines it all -- which is why it recently rose to #1 of all time movies by an international collection of film critics. From a personal experience view -- the story grabs my attention from the first minute to the last, every moment of screen footage serves a purpose (even the seemingly relaxed moments for Jimmy Stewart as he desperately tries to find normalcy in a life that is already in pieces), and the acting is superb, which is an understatement but is the product of the two stars as well as inspired directing.

As I see and experience it, the story and its portrayal on-screen clearly came out of a dark place in the director's mind and exquisitely expresses the deepest personal life of the two main characters, both existentially lonely and looking for connection.
