Review of Vertigo (1958) by Luis Y — 12 Sep 2013
What else can I say about "Vertigo". The brilliance and mystery of every scene, It's masterful work by mr.Hitchcock and his crew. Having seen it twice now, I appreciate this movie even more now.
This tale of obsession and love makes stalking acceptable, while films such as "The Graduate" just make it seem weird. Kim Novak and James Stewart work every seen out together like clockwork.
You feel the chemistry immedietly between the two. I love the split personalities that Novak had to act out. While emcompassing two totally different actresses. Hitchcocks use of color and the framing shots of vertigo are astounding.
This movie makes me afraid to enter clock towers. The twist in the middle and the end of the movie is a huge phych out job by Hitchcock. Its planned so well and I didn't expect it at all. Now I know why this film was voted as the new #1 movie of all time.
You don't get murder mysteries like this anymore.
