Review of Vertical Limit (2000) by Zack S — 02 Oct 2010
Peter: My sister's dying up there, Mr. Wick.
Montgomery Wick: Up there, you're not dying, you're dead.
The trailer makes this movie seem a lot more epic than it really is. However, I'm still stunned by all the hate behind this movie. It's a well-made action film that is pure entertainment. This movie is not meant to be taken seriously, it's not trying to teach you how to be a climber. It's just pure escapist entertainment from start to finish.
The plot is somewhat predictable but it's still not a bad plot. It's still a plot that is strongly acted and extremely well crafted. The movie does start off slow but once those intense action sequences hit I guarantee you will be on the edge of your seat. This movie was released around the time the extreme fad became popular and not only is it extreme but it is definitely a whole lot better than the other extreme movies we got at that time.
This film is full of amazing scenery, great cast members, and spectacular stunts. Again, this film is not meant to be taken seriously. It's just a load of pure entertainment with awesome stunts and scenes. Martin Campbell is a great action film director and this film is definitely one of his underrated and awesome films.
