A hand full of Yakuza, a forest full of zombies and a barrage of ultra-violence help make Versus one of the most entertaining films ive seen in years.

Versus is one of those films which puts the plot on hold and concentrates on flashy direction and over the top violence. Usually this would be a bad thing, but director Kitamura has a talent for keeping you vastly entertained with creative fight scenes and hilariously OTT gore.

Kitamura's flashy direction works well with the high speed editing to make each and every fight scene impressive and keeps the pace of the film constantly fast. However, it is clear that the film did not have a very large budget as most of the production values seem to be spent on the creative gore. And yes, there is a hell of a lot of blood and gore. In fact Versus is without a doubt in the top 5 most ludicrously violent films ive ever seen. It is hilarious.

Versus is also a very funny film as some of the characters are very eccentric and just add to the craziness. There are many laugh out loud moments which involve the strangest of things, some of which may put people off because they are so insane. However, anyone with a taste for guns/martial arts/zombies/gangsters/gore are sure in for a treat.

+ Cool as fook.

+ Awesome OTT violence.

+ Impressive and flashy direction.

+ Hilarious.

- Low budget shows.

- May be a little too crazy for some people.

Verdict: As insane a film as you will find, but if you like a lot of violence and laughs then you should not miss it.
