Review of Versus (2000) by Speed Racer(Mach Go! Go!) — 29 Jul 2008
A mindlessly stylized, half conceived effort. It fails at everything it attempts -- the action is numbing and ponderous, the comedy isn't funny, the camerawork is unabashedly unoriginal, and the basic storyline is... not so captivating. The film consists of a bunch of gunfights and poorly choreographed fight scenes, added together with the thinnest thread of a story, and blasted in the ass by cheap gimmickry and a disturbing lack of personality.
It's also just goddamn boring.
