Review of Veronika Decides to Die (2009) by Nick C — 17 Jun 2012
Gellar is so wooden in this adaptation that any life the film had was immediately sucked out of it by her bored act at recreating desperation. The book is powerful, it thrives off Veronika's passion and energy. But this, goodness me! Awful, awful attempt!
Could have done with less star actors, more enthused acting and a whole lot of editing. Seventy percent of the film is wandering aimlessly around as the script considers looking at the main points of the novel but then settles for a casual stroll. Do yourself a favour: buy the book, have a coffee and enjoy a pretty inspiring story.
