Review of Veronica Mars (2014) by Joel R — 06 Apr 2014
The first Hollywood studio film, or at leas distributed film, to get crowdfunded by the kickstarter campaign seems to benefit from its good cult following from its originator Veronica Mars show and also serves as an introduction/fresh start for those unintiated.
Equal parts Murder She Wrote for the Dawsons Creek/WB crowd,Veronica returns to her hometown Neptune to help her former boyfriend secure representation in regards to a murder case in which he is the prime suspect, but of course as we proceed, this case opens up a 9 year old one that occurred around the time the original show aired.
Kristen Bell is obviously tailored made for the character and it is admirable that her and the shows creators were able to get the project off the ground for a story contiuation for the fans. Going to be interesting to see how this sort of process affects more indie films funded this way by big name talents.
Decent film but for the most part for its select audience.
