Review of Vera Drake (2004) by Jennifer H — 26 Sep 2006
An incredible film from british writer/director Mike Leigh that looks at the topic of abortion in 1950's Britain. Imelda Staunton is amazing the title character (who deserved her Oscar nod), an compassionate middle-class wife/mother who does what she does because she wants to "help young girls out".
The topic of abortion will devide people but extremely well-written and directed film that has great supporting cast. A must see.
