Review of Vera Drake (2004) by Mike S — 12 Jul 2008
Very impressive film about a woman who risks everything to help out young women who cannot afford a legal abortion. It's heartbreaking because her family is unaware of it and she honestly doesn't feel she's doing anything wrong.
And that evil woman she gets the names from is the one collecting money for it, and doesn't tell Vera who wouldn't take a dime. Interesting contrast to seeing Imelda in Harry Potter recently. She's great.
