Peter O'Toole and Leslie Phillips are both magnificent in this, though the film itself has left me with more questions than answers. At times both disturbing and poignant, "Venus" is not quite the Pygmalion-esque makeover that the trailer predicts.
...(read more) Instead, it confronts ageism in a rather unexpected, and therefore quite enlightening way. The waitress' comment about the photo of young and rakish O'Toole is bang on.
