Some biting humour and wonderfully camp performances from O'Toole and Leslie Phillips make the first first hour of Venus and unexpected delight.
Unfortunately at literally the 60 minute mark, the movie seems to fall away, bringing in pointless sub-plots and becoming rather directionless.
Venus never quite believes in itself to carry off what should have been an emotional finale and is ultimately a slight disappointment.
