Review of Venus (2006) by Garrick J — 06 Oct 2009
Humanity and its frailties portrayed by extraordinary actors. They don't try, they just are, and what they are is the best. Peter O'Toole and Leslie Phillips are wonderful in their roles. It rather sticks in my throat that O'Toole did not win the Oscar for this outstanding performance.
The question of whether he is a dirty old man or not simply is irrelevant, the film is about getting old. I don't believe we are invited to be judgmental, merely to observe and learn. Very funny, but touching at the same time.
