Review of Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) by Jluis_001 — 18 Oct 2021
Venom: Let There Be Carnage is primarily an action film, after all, it is one more of the gigantic machinery of comic book adaptations, but it's also a film that has completely accepted a humorous tone that stands out for the wrong reasons in two characters, that first of all, should have been violent.
For a film that barely lasts 97 minutes, it is surprising to see the simplicity of its script, especially since seeing such a short duration in this genre is quite rare.
And even though I can admit the fact that this story decides not to waste time with fillers like the first one, it also doesn't have moments that are truly noteworthy, and that's a bad thing.
If someone had told me that one day I would see these two characters sharing the screen, and without Spider-Man, I would have called them crazy, but here we are, and the result, although generically entertaining, is also a disappointing one.
The cast is having fun, especially Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson, and that at least makes the results feel a little more natural and fun, though inevitably fruitless.
Don't be fooled. Venom: Let There Be Carnage may provide you with an unpretentious fun time, and that's more than valid, but its greatest purpose, which will define its future, lies in the post-credits scene, which adds another brick to the immense storyline that Marvel is planning and constructing with the multiverse.
And that after all, it's what everyone really wants to see.
