Review of Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) by Richardsayre — 02 Oct 2021
A slight improvement over the first, VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE is a ridiculous, funny, and dumb superhero flick that doesn't try to be anything more. Tom Hardy is a one man show here, Woody Harrelson gives it his all and certainly doesn't skimp with Cletus Kasady but at times his character is treated as the B-plot to the true story of Eddie and Venom's couples counseling.
Andy Serkis is absolutely the best choice here for director, and going forward I hope Sony sticks with him as the CGI looked much more crisp this go around. Lean and mean, but also choppy and sloppy, VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE is a blast that maybe tones down the carnage a tad too much.
