Review of Venom (2018) by Draco S — 05 Oct 2018
Let's just start off with the fact that there are some glaring issues in this movie, and that's coming from an absolute hardcore venom fan with him being my favorite comic character. Do I think it deserves a watch? Oh hell yeah, it's very enjoyable, but I'll elaborate a bit on the issues so those that want can read.
Let's start off with the fact that yes the movie does feel dated and very early 90's. IS that a bad thing? Not necessarily, but it does jump around a lot so certain scenes aren't as flushed out as they could be.which also lends itself to certain side characters receiving little development.
The story is fine, it's basically a mish-mash of what we knew they were basing it off of, and it does work but it's nothing overly special.
And lastly the action/cgi. again it's fine, and rather enjoyable actually, but there are fights where it can be very hard to tell what's going on because of how fast it is and certain cuts. I can definitely see what some people may say they didn't enjoy it, and that's completely fine.
All in all i'd give it an 8-8.5 out of ten, would definitely recommend but know that it's by no means a perfect movie. For me it was heavily carried by tom hardy and the symbiote's relationship as well as the intense action.
