Review of Venom (2018) by James S — 04 Oct 2018
Venom is an Enjoyable film, Eddie Brock's relationship with the symbiote is by far the most entertaining thing in this movie, Tom hardy is very funny, the writers get the character and made him very much like his early 90s comic book counterpart with subtle references like venom wanting to eat chocolate and for the most part the action sequences are good.
The pacing is also well done the two hour run time felt much shorter. The movie isn't perfect though, while Tom Hardy is charming the supporting cast isn't as interesting with some of the dialouge feeling poorly written and a burning antagonist it's like, okay can we please get back to what Eddie and Venom are doing? The special effects aren't consistent some shots of venom look alittle cartoony in a bad way with a big CGI fight at the climax , however Venom's full of personality which makes up for the visual effects.
Overall Venom is not as bad as the critics are saying. It has problems but I think the positives outweigh the negatives.
