I'm not sure what movie the critics was watching but it sure wasn't this movie. This movie well establishes the character of Eddie Brock/Venom and his companions. This Sony movie doesn't match the pacing of most modern Marvel movies, you know insert joke at this time, insert this fight there; this movie creates a formula of its own.
The pacing matches one of The Dark Knight, which wasn't crammed full of the humor and action but a story, which this Venom movie is an origin story that not as many people know as Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Cap.
Again not sure what movie the critics was watching but I cannot wait to fo see the movie again!
