Review of Vengeance Is Mine (1979) by Mayukh B — 04 Aug 2015
Based on a true story, this film seems to use a sociopath turn to psychopathic murder rampage as a reaction to the cultural shifts of post WWII that resulted in a re-evaluation of "Idenity.".
Our Serial Rapist/Murderer seems to also represent a repressed desire to take a misplaced and confused retribution for the wrongs suffered by the Japanese Identity. I don't think I'm over-reading into the film, this is how the movie feels. It is as disturbing as it is entertaining. A disturbing work of film art.
