Review of Vegas Vacation (1997) by Tim S — 13 Apr 2013
Vegas Vacation is not the follow-up to the wonderfully entertaining National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation that you would expect it to be. I didn't see the film for a long time. Not for any reason, I just never got around to it.
I had heard that it was bad, but I was surprised to find that it really wasn't that bad. It was mediocre, yes, but not altogether terrible. The terrible parts involve the corny resolution to the plot, as well as an extended slapstick sequence with Clark dangling from a wire over the Hoover Dam, with terrible green screen and CGI to sell the effect.
Oh, and the girl who plays Audrey is terrible, and I wouldn't have minded if her character had just been cut from the movie as she really serves no purpose. The laughs are there in the movie, but you aren't constantly laughing like in the previous films.
It's decent, but not perfect.
