Review of Veer-Zaara (2004) by Enes O — 25 Feb 2008
I really enjoyed this movie. The premise, the romance, and the ability to poke fun at itself. This movie is a Romeo-Juliet without all the death. And when I began to think, jeez this is unbelievably melodramatic: a character calls attention in a Kubrickesque manner to what the audience might be thinking: "Are these gods posing as people, or are they people posing as gods.
" The sentimentality is blanched out by the compelling story, and might even give the most jaded a hope for romance. Well done.
