Review of Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe (2016) by Meryl J — 03 Aug 2016
I saw this movie and it is extremely misleading. I think that gullible people already believing in government conspiracy theories and "the evil big pharma" plot to depopulate the earth will enjoy the movie and find their biases about vaccines confirmed. But, skeptical, educated people who have good critical thinking skills will see they are being emotionally manipulated by the flim makers. Nowhere is any alternate evidence presented nor do the filmmakers tell the audience how Hooker and Wakefield have had studies retracted and Wakefield is not a doctor due to his fraud and unethical testing procedures. Nowhere do they mention they edit the taped recordings out of context. The filmmakers do not mention that there the data analysis in question has been analyzed by many others and found sound, that Hooker's take on the data was found to be such bad science it was retracted. Thompson has continued to work for the CDC for the last 12 years. In his only official statement, he says he is provax, that this was merely a difference of opinion about the data. It's as if Thompson knows this is not a big deal, that autism is not caused by vaccines, that there was no fraud, but he his words have been taken out of context and used by nefarious, unscrupulous people. And, nowhere is it mentioned that Brian Hooker's son's vaccine injury case resolved recently. It was found, in their own doctor's notes, that the child had obvious signs of autism BEFORE the MMR vaccine.
Vaccines work and they don't cause autism. This film is not worth your time. You will feel dirty, after you see it, because it is trying so hard to manipulate your emotions with lies and falsehoods.
