All the performances are good and sturdy, but it is, in the main, wholly predictable, wheeling out all the old sports movie clichés. The opportunity was there to make distinctive comment about the obsession some places in America seem to have with high school football, but no, they would rather go for a film, which, while never exactly dull, isn't that entertaining either.
