Review of Vanity Fair (2004) by Maya S — 10 Apr 2008
One of my favorites (I'm a sucker for the period pieces).
The movie reception of this was good, but not great, I am saddened by this news because it is such an intelligent movie.
Reese Witherspoon plays one of the most well-known of all literacy heriones...almost as large as my beloved Elizabeth Bennet. She pays her role with the wit and vigour of spirit that made the social climber loved, she had to play it well because Rebecca is such a bitch in this movie that it takes a real character to pull off that AND have everyone love you.
I also love the look of this movie, the use of vibrant colors make the world complete.
Not a movie for everyone, but a masterpiece in my eyes...
