Review of Vanity Fair (2004) by Deadly Night S — 28 Apr 2009
Well...this was all right. I can't say I loved it. Can't say I hated it. It was sort of a blah film. It wasn't as badly executed as "The Duchess" but I'm left feeling more or less the same.
I'd pick this over that one, but only marginally. It's got wonderful scenery and costumes, but I think if it focused a little more on social satire instead of drama it may have been more successful since the ending completely switched gears from emotional to comical.
If you like period pieces, you should see it. If not, don't expect anything spectacular.
