Review of Vanishing Point (1971) by Roy N — 07 Feb 2008
Watch carefully because everything happens fast. The chase. The desert. The shack. The girl. The roadblock. The end. This flick made me fall for the 70 Challenger, a truly great movie. also made me drive my 68 Plymouth too fast.
First off its sme of the best car stunts put to film, the Challenger R/T being a prefect car to do so, Barry Newman is suitably very, very cool Cleavon Little is real good. The soundtrack is great, the post-hippie 60's rebelous nature is a prefect fit for this movie, there's very little plot, he does everything for little or no reason, the cops are squares, he blind black DJ speaks the poetic truth.
It's also got one of the most prefect endings ever. sure he hit the bulldozers but Kowalski is still driving that Mopar.
