Review of Vanishing Point (1971) by Paul P — 25 Aug 2007
Quite simply, a very cool film.
On the surface, this appears to be a standard road movie, when it is actually quite a lot deeper than meets the eye. As a tale about a man who doesn't quite know where he fits in or what he believes in, this is great viewing. Barry Newman exudes cool as Kowalski. He has minimal dialogue but his face tells you everything you need to know.
On top of this, you have the car chases and they are a blast. This is a real product of it's time. A real gem of a flick, the closing scenes of which are totally haunting.
