Review of Vanishing Point (1971) by Tina H — 14 Apr 2008
Like most cult films, I really don't know what to make of this: yes, there is symbolism abound in Vanishing Point and the movie could be read as an allegory of this and that, but talking about the details makes us forget that sometimes details can overwhelm the whole.
Granted, there is a lot of things in this film that I'd like to see in films today, like abundant drug use and naked women on mopeds and the cinematography is brilliant, but as a whole, the film drags on slowly, which is odd because it's basically a single chase scene.
Kowalski wants to escape everything, including his life. Great. I wished that the Devil would have been chasing him, because that would've made a killer film.
