Review of Vanishing on 7th Street (2010) by Abb J — 19 Apr 2012
I'm still not entirely sure what the hell happened in this movie. The premise is there, filled with all kinds of apocalyptic horror promise. The cast is-at least for this genre-halfway decent. And the film is shot with an overabundance of style and atmosphere.
But the damn thing is just so uninteresting and uninvolving. An apocalypse movie should never be boring, but Vanishing on 7th Street is. I'm not bothered by the ambiguous nature of the threat as much as I am by the fact that really, absolutely nothing happens in this film, and whatever promise there is at the beginning gets squandered in favor of excessively long tracking shots.
