I am surprised that this movie has such a low score. I've already watched it four times in the last couple of years and each time I watch it I am amazed how I am left thinking at the end. Maybe it is because I love ambiguous movies and like to mull over what a movie meant.
Basically, this movie is not for those who hate thinking about a movie while they watch it. IT WILL CONFUSE THE HELL OUT OF YOU! People also say that they can't sympathize with Cruise's character.
Which is true. He does in fact play an egotistical playboy. However, he really shine's when he is around Sofia, which is part of his character development. In that, Sofia transforms him into someone who is able to love.
That doesn't mean he is any less egotistical.
