Review of Vanilla Sky (2001) by Jacob M — 11 Jun 2013

There is a certain kind of movie that I love. Its a kind of movie that I believe is very hard to capture correctly and that is the movie that can bring a mix of several genres and succeed with each one of them. Vanilla Sky was a romance, drama, science fiction, psychological thriller, and a mystery film that I think managed to touch on each subject and not only entertain with each one, but succeed with each as if they were on their own merit.

There are a lot of different interpretations of Vanilla Sky and I do believe in one, but I'm not going to spoil it for others. Its all the more rewarding to figure it out yourself, and man is it rewarding. Vanilla Sky is complex, so don't go into this looking for something easy to follow, but if you listen and understand, you'll have a great time with this one. Its a movie with a lot of hidden messages and subtext, and some may hate for that because they can't find it, but do I love it for this.
