Review of Vanilla Sky (2001) by Daniel S — 02 Sep 2013

I really love the film this is based on, abre los ojos, and this is a pretty faithful remake, all the main plot points and characters are the same, the only main difference is the tone, the original went more drama and thriller, while crowe tries to make it like a commentary on obsession and advertising blitzes, and his constant use of his favorite songs on the soundtrack is very noticeable, not necessarily bad, but it kinda draws attention to itself, but all the acting is great, cruise is prolly my favorite leading man working today, cruz diaz russell taylor and lee all do their jobs well, overall a very faithful remake, despite crowe adding his own touches, which I still respect, you should only remake something if you want to add something new, but I still prefer the original.
