Review of Van Wilder: Freshman Year (2009) by Indike W — 24 Jul 2009
The third installment, and back-story, of the Van Wilder series starts off with a bang with The Offspring's "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid", which really gets you pumped up to watch the movie.
You eagerly wait to see what kinda mischief Van would get into next and also an awesome soundtrack in the likes of the "American Pie" series (at least the first two). But all you get is a wanna-be impersonator who has obviously watched the original far too many times and can't get even a 1000 miles close to what Reynolds delivered in his breakthrough role, a bunch of actors who simply can't act and a soundtrack that sucks.
On the plus side, there were a few decent jokes and funny moments, some hot chicks showing some skin and the gorgeous Cavallari (who doesn't get that adventurous and who clearly needs more acting lessons) who gets half a point on her own here.
So watch this for the old Wilder spirit.. 'cos the only thing you'd wanna do after watching this is go watch the first movie. Write that down!
