Review of Van Helsing: The London Assignment (2004) by Quentin N — 05 Jul 2009
Don't think that because this is an animation that it's fit just for the kiddies... I'm not sure I'd let any young ones watch this - in the opening scenes a lady's throat gets slit, and even in animation it's not pleasant, perhaps less so because you don't expect it of a cartoon.
.. maybe I'm just used to the classic Tom & Jerry style cartoons and not enough of the alternative stuff, but it's a field I'm coming to appreciate as there are just so many bad vampire movies and the animated stuff is far superior! This is the prequel to the Van Helsing movie with Hugh Jackman playing the main character in both.
.. Mr Jackman is by far my favourite Van Helsing seen to date. The DVD also features a behind-the-scenes look into the sequel which is well worth a watch or two.
