Review of Van Helsing (2004) by Gloria I — 03 May 2014
Please, fix the "Movie Info" section, it's so wrong it causes me physical pain to read it. As for the movie, I don't know why so many people dislike it. Yes, it lacks a bit in the plot departament, some things could've been better explained, like the connection between Van Helsing and Dracula, the secret Vatican order and the whole thing with the werewolf curse and the Romanian royal family, but still the movie manages to deliver a story and create a plausible fantasy world.
Good special effects, strong character's presence (only reffering to the characters created by Mr Sommers, I have not seen older movies that introduce the Van Helsing character so I'm not comparing this to other movies).
It certainly wouldn't hurt to have a sequel or why not even prequel that explains and aids the base storyline, but overall it wasn't such a bad movie compared to other Hollywood fantasy crap. I'm not ashamed to admit that since it was released I've seen it at least dozen of times.
