Review of Van Diemen's Land (2009) by Phil N — 04 May 2010
Remember Ravenous starring Guy Pearce? Well, this has a similar plot - but is even less engaging. Australia, 18th century and a group of prisoners make their escape into the wild. All well and good until hunger kicks in and they turn on each other.
.. Sure, the locations are nicely shot but the picture is drained of colour and the characters are similarly uninvolving and uniformly unlikeable. True events or not, there's little to hold the attention here.
