Review of Vampire's Kiss (1989) by Erin D — 08 Sep 2008
"I need more, Nick. MORE!" I can imagine the director saying this repeatedly to Mr. Cage, who gives the most over-the-top performance I've seen in recent memory. In some ways, you could say this is a movie about excess: he's a yuppie literary agent with a Chelsea apartment; he goes on power trips.
He's also going nuts and thinks he's a vampire. But I found Mr. Cage's performance TOO excessive. If less can be more, than all that more adds up to far, far less.
