Review of Vampire Academy (2014) by Rebecca T — 10 Feb 2014
I understand the horror that crosses ones mind when you see another vampire movie coming out. At this point, it's almost overdone. But Richelle Mead's storyline is fresh and interesting. This is not some dumb movie about a girl waiting for her Knight in Sparkles to show up and rescue her. This is a movie about two best friends taking the fate into their own hands and then dealing with those consequences. I gave it 4 stars rather than five mainly because I thought the scenes were rushed and the transitions were pretty horrendous. Keep in mind that I am a biased fan of the books and really would like to see this movie succeeded so that they will make more than one.
The acting was decent, especially for the no-names they ended up casting for the lead roles. It was a low budget film and I do believe they used their money very wisely. If you find yourself in between going and not going, I would suggest going because I really don't think you will find it a waste of your money. It's entertaining (in my opinion for both guys and girls..). I would strongly suggest that this be your valentine's date movie. There is enough action and humor to keep the guys interested and a touch of romance to keep the girls happy.
