Review of Vampire Academy (2014) by Sarah P — 15 Feb 2014

I've seen the movie twice by now. And I have to say this...it's very good! I don't know what the critics are talking about. This isn't a blockbuster movie so of course the visual effects aren't perfect.

This story has a lot of mythology involved, so yeah there's some explaining. But it absolutely doesn't "borrow" anything from Twilight or Harry Potter. It's like the critics either don't have much of an imagination or just didn't pay any attention.

The humor is great, the cast is great and the story is very true to the books. Is it perfect No. It's also cut a little awkwardly at times. But as a fan of the books I absolutely loved it. It had me laughing and crying and fangirling and that's what the movie was supposed to do.

Also it's a movie about girl power so it should be appreciated at least for that! I think the audience rating says it all. It's a movie worth seeing and it's too bad it isn't recognized as such by people who are simply dismissive of things based on their first impressions.

You shouldn't be a critic if you do that. I really hope we get a second movie!
